The Sunyani and Techiman Zones of the Majlis Ansarullah, Ghana, held a joint annual Regional Ijtemaa at the Sunyani Central Mosque on 24th August 2024. The Ijtemaa, which was the first at the regional level since the division of the former Brong Ahafo Region into Zones was attended by over 200 participants from the two zones and was held on the theme “Promoting the True Attributes and Responsibilities of a Muslim: The Role of a Nasir”.
In his welcome address, Mr. Mohammed Nezomdeen, Techiman Zonal Nazim, expressed satisfaction with the turnout and highlighted the event as a key responsibility of the elder’s association. He also entreated all members of the Majlis Ansarullah to endeavour to participate in the pending National Ijtemaa to be held in Kumasi from October 3-6, 2024.
The Brong Ahafo Regional Missionary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Maulvi Aamir Fahim, in his opening address, urged members to learn and read the Holy Quran daily, emphasizing that it’s never too late to start. He highlighted that reading the Quran fosters responsible Muslim behaviour, setting a positive example for the youth.
Dr. Aziz Khalid from the University of Energy and Natural Resources in Sunyani, speaking on the theme, emphasized the importance of embracing their roles as leaders, parents, family heads, and, most importantly, as educators within the Muslim community. He highlighted that an elderly Muslim man should embody qualities such as honesty, faithfulness, truthfulness, devotion to prayer, sincerity in financial dealings, and diligent care for his family.
Maulvi Mustafa Osman from the Wasiyyat National Secretariat took the opportunity to emphasize the importance of joining the Wasiyyat scheme. He highlighted that members must contribute the appropriate amount of Chanda, as Allah is aware of everyone’s intentions.
Dr. Abdul Baasit Yidana from the Ahmadiyya Hospital in Techiman took the opportunity to educate attendees about the causes and prevention of diseases, noting that unchangeable factors like age and ethnicity can lead to illnesses, while dietary habits can be modified to reduce disease risk.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Wahab Boadi, the Regional Nazim of Greater Accra, who represented the Sadr as chairman, extended the Sadr’s best wishes to all participants. He emphasized the importance of everyone contributing to the progress of the Jamaat, stating that this is a fundamental responsibility for every Nasir. Mr. Boadi added that the key to achieving this goal lies in effective preaching.
