Adubiliyili, Northern Region – Saturday, August 2, 2025
In the heart of the quiet rural community of Adubiliyili, nestled within the Northern Region of Ghana, the spirit of faith and fellowship came alive as tens of members of Majlis Ansarullah, an auxiliary body of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, gathered for the much-anticipated Tamale Zone Ansarullah Conference. The event, held under the theme “Serving Allah, Building Families: The Divine Link Between Worship and Home,” brought together Ahmadi Muslims from Tamale, Adubiliyili, and surrounding communities in a vibrant celebration of spirituality, unity, and social responsibility.
Held on the premises of the Adubiliyili School, the conference attracted not only members of Majlis Ansarullah but also representatives from other Islamic groups and a delegation from the Adubiliyili traditional authority, signaling a broader unity in purpose and shared values.
The ceremony began on a solemn and reflective note with a powerful recitation from the Holy Quran by Mr. Suleman Fuseini of the Kukuo Circuit, followed by a moving poem composed by the Promised Messiah (AS), rendered passionately by Muallim Anis Adam. Regional Missionary, Maulvi Hamdu Bin Mohammed, then offered an inspiring opening prayer, officially launching the conference.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of the occasion and Northern Regional President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Mr. Mohammed Awal Jahinfo, encouraged participants to actively engage in the day’s activities and “carry home spiritual lessons that can strengthen both individual and family lives.”
Mr. Abdul Ghafar Moomen, the Tamale Zonal Nazim of Majlis Ansarullah, underscored the significance of religious gatherings such as this. “These conferences are not only avenues for spiritual renewal, but they also foster a deeper social bond among members. We are not just a religious community; we are a family,” he noted.
The spiritual discussions took on a deeper dimension when Mr. Nur Rahman Iddrisu delivered the first keynote address titled “The Family as a Place of Worship: Understanding the Divine Bond Between Faith and Family.” He raised a poignant concern: “Some devoted Jamaat members do not involve their children in Jamaat activities. This trend must stop. We must teach our children to love Islam Ahmadiyyat from a young age.”
The second keynote speaker, Muallim Dawood, Circuit Missionary for Jakpahi, spoke on “The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as a Family Man: Lessons for the Modern Muslim Home.” He referenced the Quran and Hadith to illustrate the Prophet’s remarkable conduct at home, including how he mended his own clothes, participated in household chores, and treated his wives and in-laws with compassion and dignity.
“The Prophet (SAW) would sweep his house, milk his goats, and serve his family,” Muallim Dawood remarked. “He maintained strong ties with the family of Hadhrat Khadija (RA) even after her death, proving that family care extends beyond the nuclear unit to all who are vulnerable and in need.”
A spirit of interfaith unity was also evident when the Imam of the Sunni Community in Adubiliyili, Imam Issah Mustapha, took the stage to commend the Ahmadiyya Community for its discipline and organizational culture. He called on the community to lead the charge against the growing menace of drug abuse among the youth. “You have values. Use them to inspire our young people away from self-destruction,” he urged.
Representing the Chief of Adubiliyili, Chief Issah Adam lauded the Ahmadiyya Community for consistently putting the community in the national spotlight. He recalled the dry spell the village had been facing but expressed hope, saying, “Because of this gathering, Allah will bless Adubiliyili with rain.”
The relationship between the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and the village of Adubiliyili is both deep and historic. It dates back to the early 1980s, when the current worldwide head of the Ahmadiyya Community, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad (May Allah be his Helper), visited the village alongside then Regional Missionary to preach the message of Islam.
In a heartfelt closing message, Regional President Mr. Jahinfo extended gratitude to members who travelled from far and near to attend the conference. He appealed to Ahmadi Muslims to invest in strengthening the Jamaat’s educational institutions, particularly the Ahmadiyya Senior High School, by encouraging enrollment and volunteering as qualified administrators and teachers.
Delivering the final remarks, Regional Missionary Maulvi Hamdu Bin Mohammed made an emotional call to action. He reminded the gathering that Allah Himself has designated them as His “Helpers.” Quoting from the Holy Quran, he said, “O ye who believe! Be helpers of Allah” (Quran 61:14). He warned against complacency, especially as many members were now over the age of 40. “This age is a divine favour. Many did not reach here. Prepare for the Hereafter. Write your Wassiyat. Live a life worthy of the title ‘Ansarullah,’ he said solemnly.
He also charged the attendees to take a stand against societal vices like drug abuse, emphasizing that “being elders in the community comes with the responsibility of modeling righteousness for the youth to emulate.”
As the sun began to dip behind the clouds over Adubiliyili, participants departed with hearts renewed and spirits lifted. Many pledged to live lives more reflective of their faith, embodying the noble charge of being true “helpers of Allah.”
Indeed, the conference was more than an event. It was a spiritual awakening, a reminder that true worship is intricately woven with the fabric of family, service, and community.
