MAJLIS ANSARULLAH GREATER ACCRA HELD A SUCCESSFUL 30TH ANNUAL IJTEMA’A IN DAMBAI

The Greater Accra Region of Majlis Ansarullah, in conjunction with the Volta Zone, held its 30th Regional Ijtema’a from August 3-4, 2024, at Oti Senior High Secondary Technical School in Dambai, Oti Region. Under the theme “Khilafat: The Continuity of Prophethood and the Soul of Islam,“. The event brought together members from the Accra, Kasoa, Tema and Volta Zones. The Ijtema’a was under the distinguished Chairmanship of our respected Sadr, Alhaj Ali Muhammad Katu.

 

The Ijtema’a commenced with a welcome address by the Greater Accra Regional Nazim, Mr. Wahab Boadi. He expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for granting members travelling mercies and highlighted the significance of holding the event in Dambai to enhance Tabligh efforts in the area. Mr. Boadi’s remarks set the tone for the conference, emphasizing the importance of spreading Islamic values.

A Dars during the Dawn Session on “Marriage as a Bedrock for a Disciplined Society; the Islamic Perspective” was delivered by Mr. Rahman Sakye Otu Afram of Volta Zone. Mr. Afram provided insightful analysis, stressing that a disciplined society begins with strong, healthy marriages built on Islamic values.

Speaking on the theme, Maulvi Abass Bin Suleman, Tema Zonal Missionary, provided profound insights into the significance of Khilafat. He emphasized: “Khilafat serves as an enduring source of divine guidance and blessings, forming the very essence of the Muslim world. It represents an unbreakable bond that fosters progress, goodness, and security for all believers.” Maulvi Bin Suleman further reiterated the importance of Khilafat and stressed that Khilafat is indeed a divine rope and that mankind needs to cling to the “Rope of Allah”. He urged the Muslim Ummah to recognize and follow the Khalifa of the age, emphasizing the vital role of Khilafat in guiding humanity.

The Greater Accra Regional President, Alhajj Adam Kofi Yamoah, representing the Ameer, commended members for their exemplary comportment and the organizers for choosing a theme that addresses the needs of the time. His remarks were echoed by the Oti Regional Minister, Honorable Daniel Machator, who called on Muslims and Christians to foster closer ties for peace and tranquility to prevail before, during and after the December 2024 general elections.

Honourable Machator praised the Greater Accra Region for selecting Dambai as the conference venue, acknowledging its potential to strengthen the faith and attitude of the local community. Other distinguished guests included Sadr Majlis Ansarullah Ghana, Alhaj Ali Mohammad Katu; Circuit Court Judge of Dambai and Ahmadi, Mr. Uthman Abdul-Hakeem; Qaid Mal of Majlis Ansarullah Ghana, Mr. Mohammed Agyemang; and traditional leaders such as Nana Kwaku Benyennor II, Omanhene of Dambai. a representative of Dasebre Kwame Bonja, Paramount Chief of Chonke Traditional Area, a representative of Nana Anebo, Chief of Banka, the Municipal Chief Executive, Honourable Gyemfi Boateng, the Dambai Zongo Chief, Alhaj Aremyaw, and Omankrado of Dambai, Nana Bunchu.

The conference featured a range of activities, including a route march through principal streets in Dambai, where over 1,200 leaflets and Jama’at literature were distributed to the public. Football, Qur’an recitation, Qur’an memorization, and quiz competitions were also held, with awards and certificates presented to deserving participants.

In his closing remarks, Sadr Majlis Ansarullah Ghana, Alhaj Ali Muhammed Katu, urged Ghanaians to prioritize peace during the elections. He advised political parties to conduct campaigns with integrity, avoiding personal attacks, and called upon the Electoral Commission of Ghana and security agencies to maintain neutrality in discharging their roles. Alhaj Katu also encouraged Ansarullah members to embody the values of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

The Ijtema’a showed a remarkable impact, with 58 individuals from the Yabram and Anyabo communities converted to Islam Ahmadiyya. This outcome underscores the impact of the Ijtema’a in promoting Islamic values and expanding the community. The successful hosting of the 30th Regional Ijtema’a demonstrates Majlis’s commitment to promoting peace, interfaith harmony, and Islamic values.
